Delicious food, fast delivery, reasonable prices. Recommend.
Good sushi place on Commercial Drive and 3rd Ave. Fast service. Good portions. Licensed.
I value good quality costumer service and I like to pay attention to detail. When I sat down, the waitress served me water straight away. then these polite well mannered children came with their grandma from karate class and they did not receive water straight away like I did. They had to ask for drinks. I hate to say it but I think it was because of their ethnicity. Other than this small error that I consider weak service, the food is great!!!
The working hours are till 10 pm. I came at 8:50 for a late dinner. They took my order and staff was ok. But at 9 pm they turned off the music, cleaned, closed the bar and turned off the lights there. I felt like I should go although I have just gotten the food. I did not enjoy eating at all. Staff was watching me and I really did not feel welcomed at all. The udon soup was very flat, sushi not too good and fish smelled and tasted old. Of course I wanted still to give them a tip. I work in a restaurant too.. But they have already brought the till away and did not give me any other option than just leave them those three dollars I could use for bus home instead. I was leaving at 9:15 and they were locking the door behind me. The feeling I could not give them the tip willingly and the bad food ... I am definitely not coming back again.
Attentive service, tasty + reasonably priced food. Lots of options on the menu. Some of the rolls were quite dry. Comfortable booths, and quiet atmosphere. The interior is bit old, and could be cleaner. Washrooms are wheelchair accessible.
It was good food, the atmosphere was a little lacking.
Thanks for accommodating my SkipTheDishes request for brown rice for my roll even though there was no option for it on the app. This little detail goes a long way. I love that you give thick salmon pieces. Very generous portions. I normally need to eat at least $20 worth of sushi at other places to feel full but your Combo A (at just $13.95) was enough for me.
Did not really enjoy it at all. The service was ok. Just one sushi did not agree with me. The BC ROLL was horrible. But the other two sushi, I really enjoyed. I liked the atmosphere, it was friendly. Sorry Kojima Sushi. Hope the BC ROLL gets better.
Nice place to eat at ,I come here often . My only complaint would be that the rolls and sushi sizes vary greatly depending on which chef is working that day .
Cheap reliable sushi on the drive
Food is pretty good for it's price. Nothing outstanding with this Sushi place
Reliable , consistent, and always fresh. This is one of my local spots and, while I used to pass it up in favor of another nearby spot, I started giving this one a go. I am very glad I did.Things like Agedashi Tofu and Tempura are always nicely battered, and keep their crisp well even when taking your food to go.Nice selection of sashimi, and their rolls are well made and presented nicely.Definitely worth checking out!
Kojima Sushi offers a wide variety of fresh sushi and rolls for great prices. Some of our customers favorites include the Lobster Roll, Flamingo Roll, and the Green Dragon Roll. Inspired by traditional Japanese cuisine, our extensive menu features an outstanding selection of appetizers, tempura, sashimi, boxes, party trays, and so much more.
While eating here yesterday, I watched one of the sushi making boys walk in to start his shift. He removed his coat, looked at the orders, and all within 5 seconds had already started pounding out sushi rolls. No nonsense.
Best value and quality sushi on the Drive. Local staple.
Always tasty and fresh. Very affordable.
I ordered spicy combo, pork gyoja and pop using skip the dishBut I got wrong food There should be spicy tuna roll, kappa maki and spicy salmon sashimi But I got spicy chop scallop roll, spicy tuna roll and (looks like) spicy dynmite roll..something..?Gyoja was good but I had to dispose the other food
This place is a wrecking down the hole kind of restaurant. I have been a regular customer to this restaurant and i have never had anything bad to say, even recommending my friends to go visit because of how generous the portion is and how cheap the price is. But today, i ordered BBQ karubi and dynamite roll through skipthedishes, and i have never had karubi that's more than 50% of pure fat that i cannot eat. I have ordered this many many times before so i know how it looks like. I thought this is very disappointing so i could call them and tell them, but all they say is " it's the same thing. Is it too fat? That's why we gave more pieces." No. YOU DID NOT GIVE ME ANY EXTRA PIECES. NO IT IS NOT THE DAME KARUBI. Other wise, why would I even bother calling them? Never had a restaurant manager say stuff like that without apologizing. AVOID THIS PLACE.
We've been coming to Kojima Sushi for a long time. Discovered in while walking down Commercial Drive looking for a place to eat.The service is always friendly. Even when the place is busy they try to check on you often and are quick to refill your tea or water. The sushi quality is pretty good. The $8.95 for 3 rolls & miso soup is a no-brainer. It's a great value and something we get whether we are eating in or taking out! The Captain Crunch roll is pretty awesome!Kojima is a great neighbourhood sushi joint. Quality is good and you get generous portions at very reasonable prices.
More like 3 and a half. Good place to bring kids.
The food is always delicious.
We were from out of town and we were looking for great sushi place. The spot we found was too long of a wait so we gave this place a try. The staff was friendly and prompt and the sushi was delicious! The only negative keeping it from 5 stars was fact they had no ice during our visit and I'd consider the overall restaurant cleanliness average.
Food is pretty good, cervice is a bit slow
Decent sushi place with lots of options. It was quite when we were there around 3. Staff was nice. We ordered few rolls miso soup. They tasted fresh. We will go back
Average sushi. Sassy and slow waitresses.
Service was a bit lacking. They took our order and never checked back on us. Food was tasty! The agedashi tofu was delicious. Negitoro roll could have used a bit more green onion but overall the value is pretty good. Interior is a bit old, and could be revamped to feel more open with more natural light.
Pretty good sushi for great prices with ok service.
Very reasonable prices. Fish was fresh tasting. Miso a little bland and tempura a touch flat but not enough to discolor the visit
Just ordered sushi special and chicken udon. It was terrible. Fish tasted old and smelled terrible. Chicken udon was boiled chicken on soggy noodle water. Do not recommend!
Good value, nice food. nice staff. More than I could eat so il save some for later :)
Tastes worse then supermarket sushi. Ok if your starving and have no money. My dog liked it but he will also eat his own pooh.
I come here about once a week, sometimes more! Their specials are a great deal, I always end up getting the $12.95 special (they have one for $8.45, too!) because there's an entire page of options to choose from. Free hot tea, good service and I *always* get my food very quickly. Delicious food, and if you don't get the special or want something extra they have special rolls which are SO good. Like I said, I come here a lot. The servers always remember me, and that makes me feel happy and special, so I always bring friends and family here when they're in town.
Wish I could of gave it a zero but no option to do so. I went there for brown rice sushi and they said they do not have any and will not make anymore and it was only 7pm. Restaurant closes at least two hours after that. Talk about lousy cheapo customer service. I have been going to Kojima in New West for years and they have never had that issue. I told her that makes no sense to have something on the menu with brown rice and not willing to make the rice on a slow cooker lol. She said welcome to go somewhere else rudely. I went accross the street to Sushi Ninja . The vibe from lady there right off the bat was way better. I walked over and told the lady and Kojima that the other place has brown rice sushi all the time as well. Talk about cheapness to another level. Surprised this place Kojima can even operate with this totally rude, cheapo attitude. First time there , will NEVER step back in. Also Sushi Ninja was EXCELLENT. Will back there many times !
It was my favorite place 2 years ago because of low prices decent food. Now, with extremely rude staff, low quality food, higher prices and place being dirty, it became my least favorite place. I will never go there again!
This place stands out , they have excellent service and delicious sushi .
My family and I come here all the time. Reasonably priced, fresh and tasty sushi. This place gives you plenty of fish in the sushi, not just rice like some places. Great Bento boxes and specials. Service is very friendly and quick. Captain Crunch Roll is Yum!
A low key, local sushi place. No lineups, decent food, fair priced. We tried the salmon sashimi, tuna tataci, gomae, and octopus sunomono. All acceptable quality.
Our favorite sushi spot on the drive for their quality, menu selection and special deal of three rolls and a miso soup!
Honestly the place is horrible. Sushi was ok. But they need a little tidy up there and make the place cleaner. A large number of spider webs confirms the fact that they have not long been cleaning there. Management does not care about it. Windows and doors are very dirty. The toilet is terrible, it is disgusting!!! Just one hour of cleaning and the place can look much better. It's hard to imagine in what conditions they prepare sushi, because if everything is dirty, it means food prepared in the same condition ?! I’ll not recommend to go there to anyone.
Great sushi. Fast sushi. Reasonable priced sushi. What more could you want. Maybe Japanese music? Japanese traditions? But whatever, you're in Vancouver on commercial. Great job
Fairly tasty, competitive prices, pretty quick and cheerful service but crowded.
Good value for the price.I wouldn't suggest this is the best sushi in Vancouver by any stretch... what I would say is that Kojima offers a wide variety of good quality sushi and Japanese food at a reasonable price. This was a regular haunt when we lived closer to The Drive, and still cross town to eat there when we're looking for fast, casual, and reasonably priced Japanese food. You can easily feed two for less than $25.
The special rolls are creative and reasonably priced, the sashimi is fresh and the tempura is good. Food comes quickly and service is adequate. Usually is about 80% full during dinner time so there shouldn't be a wait for small parties.
Family owned and run neighborhood Japanese sushi restaurant. Casual atmosphere. Prices are good. Food is decent, although not fancy. Good selection of sushi, combo boxes, and other typical Japanese dishes. I'd recommend this place, but wouldn't take someone here to impress them.
Absolutely love this place! Great prices and amazing quality especially their salmon!
Went right after rush hour of lunch so it was quiet. Cozy place with fast service, polite staff and good food
Ordered by Skip the Dishes:Items ordered:Surf clam sashimi (7pieces) $11.50: I wouldn’t order this dish again, it wasn’t fresh.Salmon and mango roll (8pieces) $5.95:The salmon could have been a bit more fresh, this is a refreshing roll, mango was sweet. I would get this roll again if I want to eat something light.Chopped scallop Nigiri (1 piece) $$2.75: there was barely any scallop and for the price I wouldn’t get this dish. Overall: I’ll come here for the small rolls, but for being a sushi restaurant and charging it for this price. It needs to be more fresh.
The food is really nothing special relative to the thousands of other quality sushi restaurants in Vancouver. Lady manager is extremely rude and the staff followed her instructions and made our dinning experience even worst. I would only go to Kojima Sushi on commercial drive only if it was the only sushi place in the City. Thank God there are much better places with quality food and nice staff.
Love this place. Amazing food and staff. It's my go to place when I visit Vancouver.
Great place for a quick and inexpensive sushi dinner. Better quality options on the Drive, but these are very good and can turn around a meal in no time. We go here once a week, and will always go back
